Hit Windows Key + C to display the Charms bar and click Search. Under the Search box are Apps, Settings and Files, then a list of other Windows 8 apps installed on your system.   To change the order of the apps, right click an app in the list and click Pin or Hide.

Here I pinned three apps to the top of the list and hid a few others. You can experiment with this and get the list customized how you like.
