For this to work you will need to be logged into your YouTube/Google account.
Step 1
Click your username box at the top-right of the YouTube web page. A new row of options should appear, in the right-column Click Settings.
Step 2
Click the Playback Setup button and then uncheck the box labeled Show annotations. All that is left to do after that is to Save Changes.
Done!
Now when you watch a YouTube video the annotations will no longer automatically display. Say goodbye to annoying “subscribe to my channel!” and “thumbs up!” spam smeared across your viewing experience. If for some reason you want to enable annotations, there is a button right below the video that looks like a quotation box. Click this button and annotations for the video you are watching will now be enabled. Note that the annotation button will only appear if a video contains annotations.
